How do you add icc profiles to MacBook Pro Sonoma?

How do you add icc profiles on to Mac Sonoma version, my profiles folder will not let me due to saying I do not have permission.

I own the thing I am the admin... All I want to do is get the correct setting to print on the paper I have but no.

Very tempted to go back to Microsoft. I have had nothing but issues with trying to do stuff on this laptop so restricted.

For those who do not learn convoluted technical details from fleeting pictures in a YouTube video, the profiles go "loose" (not inside any other folder) in the folder here:

/Library/ColorSync/Profiles

If you copy and paste that string into:

Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder

it will take you to the Folder where those items are stored.

There may already be another folder sitting there named Profiles. Do not use that one.

To Mr GBA thank you though not very helpful.

I have asked the question because I need to use the ICC.

As the Mac Book Pro Colour Sync doesn’t differentiate between the many types of printing material.

The printer needs this information to reproduce the print to the highest quality for the customer when using such materials as Digital Fine Art paper & pigment inks and both being rather expensive.

You see other systems allow you to do this, I believe Apple did at one time.

Randall_2023 Thank very much for finding that video. It worked perfectly.

I am not really tech savvy, when I were at school they didn’t have any computers until my final year.

I used to use a typewriter to do my resume / c.v. on. As for work no one I knew used one either.

1st one I saw was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and in its day nearly £200 ( pretty expensive) about £400 today. So equivalent to a mid priced laptop, how far they have come my phone is just as if not more powerful than my Mac Laptop

There are still a few of us out there who have been bypassed by tech innovation, & Social Media. Now with how AI is coming along it’s just well for me something I find difficult to understand & information overload.

I shall save the video incase I need to do it again. Again many thanks may this be a start of better relationship with my Laptop

In the video, I think I am following along just fine when he says, open this, then open this, then open this and you're there. Great! Now replicate that on my computer?

Um, where did he start again?

I can duplicate it more easily when you lay out the directory in written form. it stays quiet and still on the screen or in print. I can refer back to it again and again.

I am an old-fashioned paper oriented guy. I want to be able to refer back to things.
