i Have done this with several models and not had a problem and the previous versions didn’t have and IP68 which makes the 15 Pro waterproof allow submersion for up to 15 minutes but today I get a horrendous noice coming out my phone and it disabled until I plugged it.
You made an unfortunate assumption. No iPhone EVER sold is waterproof, including iPhone 15. iPhone's are Water Resistant, NOT waterproof. Also note that the IP rating of iPhone is tested in lab controlled situations, which do not mimic real world use.
Since you subjected your iPhone to water, Apple won't repair the phone under warranty. Do NOT attempt to charge your iPhone. If you can backup your iPhone, do so immediately, then power it off and let it dry for a couple days. Do NOT put your iPhone in rice, which can cause more harm. And possibly be prepared to purchase a replacement iPhone.
