Blocked messages show up in junk. There is no straight forward way to delete these automatically

Blocked messages show up in junk. There is no straight forward way to delete these automatically. If I block a message that means that I have decided to not see the message again....or any future message from that address/domain. I look in my junk folder and all of the messages are blocked. I can select all, apply rules and poof...they are gone. Why would a user have to do this in 2024? I have read thru previous posts about this same thing and there has not been a good answer. I have went down the applescript path with mixed results. What it comes down to is this...Should a user have to go thru all of this just to not see what they have already decided is blocked?

I understand that junk gets filtered before rules are applied. Not sure why this is the case. If I turn off junk filtering then my rules and blocked list are my only defense which has mixed results as well. My current workflow is to go into junk folder, hit select all, apply rules. Something this simple should not be necessary. I may be OCD I agree, but I like my mail system tidy. There are enough distractions in life already. I also understand this may be a bit trivial, but there is no way that this is not an impossibility.

Now before a rep comes on and copy/pastes a long list of links to things we have seen over and over...please focus on the specific problem...blocked messages in the junk folder. I assume it is due to diff systems overruling one another.

Disclaimer: I may not understand this entire system 100%. I also understand there might be something I am missing that could be easily done to solve this issue. I would welcome that 100%. I have however spent an above average amount of time trying to properly solve this problem. I am unfortunately out of patience and time. I apologize if this comes off rude/entitled in any way. Not my intent. Take care and have a wonderful day all.

Apple's implementation in Mail places "Blocked" emails into the Junk folder. One click (re PRP_53) delete them all. If you don't agree with that approach, here's how to let Apple know:

Feedback - macOS - Apple

The best way to truly "block" undesirable emails would be at the server level. Typically this is through a web-based interface for your email provider. Often one can block specific email addresses or all emails from certain external servers by specifying them. It is not foolproof because these things can be spoofed by junk email senders.

My mail provider is Apple. I do not have this issue with Gmail hence why I posted in Apple support. I will work on being more clear in my writing on this forum as I have gotten all manner of information that is not relevant to the OP from forum reps. I take responsibility for that.

If we may correct one important aspect in above.

Neither I nor @steve626 are Representatives Of Apple, although we appear on the Apple forums we are only fellow contributor like yourself

I too used iCloud mail services on 3 computer and an iPhone

The Block Sender works fine to filter those I choose to Block

Wise Owl PRP...i read thru the link u posted. you may be one of the reps I spoke of in the OP. I see that you seem to have misunderstood the issue as u stated that blocking emails would solve the issue. I think we both know this is not the case. Block means a user does not see them anymore. I will however check into the 3rd party link u provided. If that was the entire reason for the post above then i misunderstood. I am not a wise owl obviously.

Thank you for the complement and hope we can live up to the expectations

" Block means a user does not see them anymore. "

Yup, that is possible in the context of Not Looking at each Blocked Sender in the Junk mailbox

Mail Menu bar at top >> Mailbox >> Erase Junk Mail

They do not go to Trash and are presto, gone

Building o subject matter for suppled link >> " Once a persons e-mail address is exposed on the Internet, there are Entities and Persons who harvest this information. Then, they Sell this info to Spammers "

The exposed aspect in above

So building on my Learned Colleague's approach re-Server Side Blocking

Not ALL Mail Servers offer this option from Their Web Portal

Just be careful if using xxx@example.com Domain name blocking

Any and ALL e-mail originating from @example.com will be blocked Server Side of this equation

They will not appear in you Inbox nor go to Junk, as they never arrive

My original post reads "Blocked messages show up in junk." While I appreciate your explanations it does not address the above result.

I was really trying to be clear...

"Now before a rep comes on and copy/pastes a long list of links to things

we have seen over and over...please focus on the specific problem...blocked messages in the junk folder."

This is the rub that previous posters as well as myself have an issue with. U are level 10 and must understand that. It is OK to say that this may need to be revisited instead of posting workarounds. I also saw where you stated "There is no need to request from Apple. It already exists in Mail". Again I think we can all agree this is not the case. I think our disconnect is that Mail thinks blocked means "sure show up in my Junk folder". Most folks think blocked means I never see any message again for that sender. We spend all of this time blocking and crafting rules only to have all that work go to waste. It really is that simple from the user side I think.

Now here I am once again wasting time on this issue. I am a glut for sure.

Thanks for the info. The PRP 52 method is not "one click" FYI...more like 3.

"Apple's implementation in Mail places "Blocked" emails into the Junk folder" is all that really needed to be said by any apple rep along with the link to offer feedback. Why a defense has to be raised is beyond me. PRP_52 stated "There is no need to request from Apple. It already exists in Mail" in ref to submitting feedback.

Apple's implementation of "blocked email" works by sending all those specified emails into the "junk" folder, where you don't have to even see them unless you choose to. But others, such as you, might prefer a different approach. Hence the feedback link I provided.

You should explore options your email provider may offer at the server level. For instance, GMAIL has a Setting for "Filters and Blocked Addresses." Other email providers offer similar tools. These can eliminate the emails at the server level and they are never even seen on your Mac. That said, some email senders devise ways to try to get around these filters and blocks.
