Apple image capture still large on my MacBook Air

okay so, you might remember I last time that I posted a message about my images becoming to large and thanks to your help that problem was resorted.

this time however

I was doing my usual image capturing  and adjusting size, but then i clicked resample image tab once, closed image window then opening it again, then deleted image.

but then when i captured another images and adjusted their size I noticed that the images would still be big/full screen, like their in the same resolution as 72, when I wanted them smaller, even though I typed their resolutions to 144.

i only clicked the resample image tab once and only once and then this happens, whats is going on?

how can make my images small again?

It sounds like you're experiencing some unexpected behavior with Apple Image Capture. It's possible that clicking the "Resample Image" tab once might have altered some settings that are causing your subsequent images to retain their original size despite your attempts to resize them.

One thing you could try is to reset the Image Capture settings to their default state. To do this, you can go to the Image Capture preferences and look for an option to reset preferences or settings. This should revert any changes made inadvertently.

Additionally, when resizing images, make sure you're selecting the correct dimensions and resolution before saving or exporting them. Double-check that the settings you've chosen are applied correctly.

If the issue persists, you might want to consider restarting your computer or reinstalling the Image Capture application, as this could potentially resolve any software glitches causing the problem.

If none of these solutions work, it might be worth reaching out to Apple Support directly for further assistance, as they may have more specific troubleshooting steps tailored to your situation.

Word to the wise

Be wary of some would suggestions regarding " reinstalling the Image Capture application ".

As the " Image Capture " is part of the Operating System - it can not be re-installed as a Standalone Application

This is totally inaccurate and not possible

Unfortunately, there has been recent influx of AI / ChatBots appearing on thees forums

They may appear as helpful suggestions but when one dissects their work - it often untrue and imposable to do

I would suggest following the advise of @ Matti Haveri

Scanning is clumsy and labor intensive so I usually overdo it and scan old printed photos at 600 ppi with billions of colors as .tif so I don't have to do it ever again. I post-process in Lightroom and output as .jpg in color or grayscale and archive all or selected .tif files.

For photo prints, 300 ppi is fine in general; scan at 600 ppi to make sure you get all the details hidden in your prints.

For slides and negatives, 2400 ppi will give you the equivalent of a 7.7-megapixel photo, which is good enough for most standard print sizes.

36 x 24 mm film @ 2400 ppi = 3402 x 2268 = 7.7 MP

36 x 24 mm film @ 4800 ppi = 6803 x 4535 = 30.9 MP

15 x 10 cm paper @ 300 ppi = 1772 x 1181 = 2.1 MP

15 x 10 cm paper @ 600 ppi = 3543 x 2362 = 8.4 MP

I'm not scanning anything. all I'm doing is image capture

and i think because of what I did last night, If I wanted the image at the right size have to type like 33.8 in the width area while I type 144 in resolution. iCloud has to process that.

in short ever since last night I instead if simple type 144 in the resolution and then instantly I got the size I wanted, I now have to type what width i want. in short I just added more work for myself now.

maybe its a bug that started ever since I clicked resample image tab once, I wished I haven't. or maybe I was a little impulsive. either way my bad.
