MP4 files will not transfer from photos on iMac to iPhone or iPad.

So I have been trying to sync pictures & videos from iMac to iPad & iPhone, all but 2 videos trasfered successfully but I get this message for two of them.

“08744C83-EF3A-40F2-8D25-2E16E0D43CAC.mp4” was not copied to the iPad “Lee's iPad Pro 6th Generation” because it cannot be played on this iPad.

Now I know its not true that it cannot be played on the iPad because it started out on my iPad once I downloaded from a family album app, I then air dropped the 2 videos to my iMac & added them to photos app on iMac before connecting iPad to iMac to sync all photo & video but keep getting the above message for two videos when all other videos downloaded from the same family album app do transfer & play successfully.

Please help

FWIW I have had similar issues (see below). But do any of these explain your issue? If not, I'd check the movie's codecs with MediaInfo or Invisor -- maybe some workflow has changed the codecs or related details? Does the Mac's QuickTime Player play the movie? Does changing the movie name to something simpler help?

Silent movies (even a timelapse from from the same iPad etc) without audio failed to sync to iOS devices from Photos library (Mac mini 2018, Big Sur 11.6.1, iPad Pro MLQ62KN/A 9,7", iOS 15.1). That sync error with silent movies was fixed in macOS 12.3.1 and iOS 15.4.1.

10-bit HDR/HLG .mov from iPhone 13 Pro did not sync to iPad Pro 9,7" although in macOS 12.3.1 Photos.app it is displayed OK. An almost similar 10-bit HDR/HLG .mov from iPhone 12 Mini do sync to iPad Pro 9,7" but the colors are washed off because proper HDR/HLG conversion does not take place.

...that iPad Pro 2016 was tool old to support HDR footage -- the newer iPad Air 2022 is OK in that respect.

Notice also that Google Photos "Storage saver" setting was recently "updated" to convert downloaded movies to Google's VP9 codec which is incompatible with QuickTime Player (a workaround is to use IINA or VLC etc).

Hi,

so this is what is next to the Codec on TWO video's that will not transfer

Codecs: H.264, MPEG-4 AAC

Codecs: H.264, MPEG-4 AAC

all the ones that do transfer just fine say this, looks the same to me

Codecs: H.264, MPEG-4 AAC

All other data seems the same on each video too.

They all work fine on iMac with pictures APP & using Quicktime they are fine but just Two out of 43 videos won't sync to iPad Pro 6th Generation using IOS 17.3.1 & will not Sync to iPhone 14 Pro Max using IOS 17.3.1

So I have no clue what the problem is ?
