Calculator -- Currency conversions and menus no longer work in calculator after 12.7.3 security update.

Selecting Convert --> Currency from Calculator's menu bar does nothing and doesn't respond.
Selecting any other conversion from the Convert menu bar choice brings up the standard conversion overlay menu onto the face of the calculator. If Currency is then selected from this overlay menu, the From and To choice fields are found to be blank, containing no items in their drop-down menus when clicked on

Just tested in Mojave 10.14.6, crashed Calculator on first attempt, further attempts when relaunching Calculator... Convert>Currency opens no choices at all, like you didn't select anything, other convrt choices work.

Service exited due to SIGABRT

error 01:55:16.998301 -0800 Calculator An uncaught exception was raised

It is worse, when I bring it up on 12.6.4 it doesn't even bring down the popup for Currency. So this issue has been around for several releases of Monterey.

offers one of the oldest live currency conversion tools, and a way to send money to foreign countries. I've used it successfully. I'm just a happy user of it.

Thanks for weighing in on this on a brody. As this has been working for me right up until the most recent security update, but now I hear you've been affected by it quite a few versions back, I'm wondering about one of the update installers corrupting ( or deleting ) a file, filepath, or dependent component(s) needed for the currency update function to successfully check the latest conversion rates on the web, then import these into Calculator.

Running calc on the root user yields the same results ( thereby ruling out a permissions issue ).

Deleting Calc's prefs & relaunching yields no positive results either.

Can always get currency conversions elsewhere on the web, but it was always quicker and more convenient for me to access directly within Calc ( and I'd like to fix whatever was damaged during the update, especially if that damage extends beyond the Calc app :- )

OK, it looks like that feature is permanently removed or the server managing it has changed. My wife's Catalina machine when you switch to currency crashes calculator sometimes, and sometimes doesn't load a thing. It briefly shows some default currencies before unexpectedly quitting.
