Messages complication shows unread message

The Messages complication on my watch (series 7) shows one unread message. But all the text messages on my phone are read. Restart Watch didn’t fix; hard reset (as shown in Dah-veed response to similar question) didn’t fix. How can I get rid of the incorrect notice on my watch?

Apple Watch - Unread Message Count Using a Messages complication on my Apple Watch, the Unread count often shows higher than that on my iPhone. I usually read messages on my iPhone, but they often show as Unread on the Watch. To fix this, I have to go in to manually read all messages on the Watch. This can be a pain not only because I have to read the same message twice, but also if I haven't fixed the issue in a while, scrolling down to find the message can be a bear. I already have Message Notifications set to Mirror My iPhone, as was suggested in this thread: Text messages - Apple Community All devices are constantly up-to-date, and regularly restarted. Messages will not load on Apple Watch after installing watchOS 10 Hello, Messages will not load on my Apple Watch Series 4 after installing watchOS 10. Each time I see a number in the messages complication and attempt to open the messages complication the messages icon appears surrounded by spinning white dots. See enclosed image. The app then closes/crashes. In addition, I cannot open the messages app. The only time messages now works on my Apple Watch is if somehow the message has already opened. I think this happens if my iPhone XS and Apple Watch are unlocked and I'm already using my iPhone. In this scenario I can see the body of the message. I'm running iOS 17 and watchOS 10.0.1 Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you, Ben

Apple watch notification showing unread message My Apple Watch is showing that I have an unread message but I don’t. And before anyone comments, no I didn’t read a message on my phone and not the watch. I already know if you delete or read a message on the iphone it can still show on the watch so I always open it on both. I deleted all messages from my watch and I don’t have anything unread. I turned it off and mirrored/resynced to my phone multiple times and it still shows this. This isn’t the first time this has happened I have to deal with this at least once a month. Why does this continue to happen and is there a way to stop this?
