How do I make Chrome stop opening links in other apps?

I want to purchase kindle books, but my Chrome browser defaults to my Amazon app. How do I stop Amazon app from opening?

Links open app store instead of apps when I follow a link for example youtube, maps, instagram, etc, it opens the link in safari instead of the app. In safari there’s the an “open in app” link which sends me to app store instead of the actual app. And yes everything is updated. Is there any solution to this? It seems an old issue, of what should be a very basic os function, but apparently without a fix.

Chrome App downloads itself I keep uninstallaing the chrome app (manually deleting it from the menu) but it will randomly reinstall itself after a couple hours. My links will then open with chrome. Automatic downloads are off and safari is set as my default browser.

Safari popups open App Store.app and iTunes.app This is about Macs, not iOS devices. Please don't give an answer relating to iOS. Sometimes when I visit a site, a popup comes up and automatically launches the App Store or iTunes. Is there any way to refuse to let Safari open apps automatically? For the record, I'm still on 10.14 Mojave for app compatibility reasons (I BOUGHT the apps and the new versions require subscriptions). I don't think newer versions have an option to turn off this behavior. I don't want to disable Javascript because I don't know enough about it and what limitations there would be for browsing without it. Thanks.
