Hi all,
so my imac was so slow and unresponsive that i had to do a full disk erase and then was able to reinstall the os.
everything seems to running a lot better. here is the new Etrecheck report. i dont fully understand it but seems a lot better than the original one. thanks for all your help.

That is a tremendous improvement and I would definitely expect you to be able to notice. By cleaning up your system, your drive speed is now at:

Write speed: 662 MB/s

Read speed: 2641 MB/s

Compared to:

Write speed: 115 MB/s ⚠️

Read speed: 138 MB/s ⚠️

There is really nothing else you need to do. In my opinion only, I would uninstall MalwareBytes. It is a great program and I use it as well, but only for a single scan and not to run on my computer constantly. It is no secret when you download Malware, as the whole purpose is to make itself known with continued pop-ups and/or advertisements to get you to download more software. When that occurs a single scan of MalwareBytes will remove it.

Anyways, glad you got your Mac back!

Your computer came with Apple's Fusion drive but is running—barely— far below expected Fusion speeds. Your drive scores:

Performance:

System Load: 2.98 (1 min ago) 3.22 (5 min ago) 2.76 (15 min ago)

Nominal I/O usage: 0.46 MB/s

File system: 130.00 seconds (timed out) ⚠️

Write speed: 115 MB/s ⚠️

Read speed: 138 MB/s ⚠️

A healthy Fusion drive on that model with your specs should be doing Writes between 600 and 900Mb/sec, and Reads up to 2000MB.sec. Yours is running as speeds that suggests it is running off the mechanical Fusion component alone.

You can try the fix for a "split" Fusion drive:

Anti-virus software may slow drive performance and could be masking other issues. It has to go.

Here I am seeing install dates long before your computer was made, likely due to Migration Assistant used on an older Mac:
