My father has an iphone8 and is having trouble with it recognizing his Touch ID (we’ve deleted it and reinstalled it but I think his 95-year-old fingers aren’t as recognizable as they once were) so might like to enable Face ID. Is this possible on his phone?

If you need access to the phone, type the passcode. You can try and reset Touch ID after you have access to the phone and set multiple fingerprints (if he doesn't already) which will activate the phone. If I recall correctly, you can store up to 5 different fingerprints.
