New Mac won't accept my Norton password to finish installing. What do I do? New to Mac.

New to iMac computer. Have always used a PC. Trying to install Norton. Program downloaded. And to finish installing it asks for my Norton password. I gave it but program won't accept it. It is accepted when I sign in on my PC. Am I doing something wrong. Thanks for any help.

Further to FoxFifth's excellent advice, it might be helpful for you, being new to Mac OS, to read some explanation of why the system does not need the "help" of Norton and the like. Read John Galt's user tip Effective defenses against malware and other threats. The key point is that Mac OS already has all the defences and protection you need against viruses and malware.

There is a reason that Microsoft releases a Windows Defender anti-virus update every single day in Windows 11 Pro, and Apple does not need to do so in macOS. Anti-virus tools in macOS are a waste of time, System performance, application stability, and all to often, false flag legitimate operating system or application data files as malware.

The key thought with Macs is do not install useless junk, and anti-virus applications fit that criterion.
