Click on the audio clip to select it. Then click on the loudspeaker icon in the tool bar at the upper right of your screen. The volume controls will appear that displays a slider where you can adjust the percent volume of the clip.

You can enlarge the height of the clips/timeline in the Settings popup so that someone with even the worst eyesight can easily manipulate the volume line.

EDIT: Actually I can't see much point in dragging that slider as it is just the same as dragging the volume line in the clip. I think Fritz was looking for a box where he could simply write in a percentage but that would not really be an improvement.

I never use the volume slider for the reason that you mentioned. I suppose if one wanted to adjust the volume to a precise percentage, then paste that adjustment to other clips, then it might make sense to use the slider.

Just noticed what you mean.

With the clips enlarged to the maximum the smallest amount of adjustment is around 5% but I can't see anyone, let alone anyone as new as your client needing anything like that degree of adjustment.
