Mac Studio M2 won't boot - led flashes once

Barely six month old Mac Studio M2 won't boot up. I faced this issue three months back where the machine

won't power on and the LED would flash once. No matter how may times you press the power button, or take out the cables, or hold the power for 10 second and then wait 5 seconds and all that ...; the machine won't start. And then just randomly after letting it be for a random amount of time, it powers on. I

shutdown the machine each night, so no, it's not in sleep mode.

After it does power on, the machine would boot normally for a few weeks and then the same issue. It would

randomly not boot. Last ten days the problem was more frequent. I even tried the Apple Configurator to revive it from another MacBook Pro but the thing would error out during the installation phase.

Finally, gave it to the service center they did a tear down and managed to reinstall the system and start the machine but the power boot issue was still there. Fortunately, I was able to show them at the service center itself, this time by simply changing the plug points, and the machine would not boot.

Terribly disappointed that such a beautiful piece of engineering is giving such basic problems.

The same issue was reported on reddit 2 years back. I wonder if the issue is more widely prevalent and if so, is there a hardware defect/design flaw that Apple should investigate.

Apple sold around 20 million Macs last year. That is a run-rate of over 57,000 new Macs a DAY.

You have a sample of ONE Mac Studio. if this were a pervasive problem with every Mac Studio, this forum would be swamped with so many users posting about it that you could not even log on to say, "me too".

What you have is referred to as a 'sample defect' -- a hardware failure that has occurred in your sample of the product, ONLY.

If this is reproducible at your Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store, relief should be readily available under warranty at no cost to you.

¿what is the date of your most recent backup, and by what method?

I ask because a mainboard swap will also replace the boot drive, and your files will NOT be returned to you.

I wouldn't have raised it as a problem that many may have faced had I not see this reddit thread below. The thread is two years old and the same problem - reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/tvwpb0/mac_studio_flashing_led_and_wont_boot

So no, it's not a problem in the sample of my product ONLY. The issue is specific to the Mac Studio M2, not the MacBook, not the pro not the mac mini or how many every MACs with different form factors are being sold each year.

The relief center said they'll have to replace the logic board (at no cost obviously). Not worried about the data because I had that backed up.

If one reddit thread written two years ago is all the evidence you have, that is NOT a pervasive problem on Macs. That is a failure among a relatively very small number of Macs (compared to all the Macs that exist in the world).

When you post here, you are not alerting Apple. Readers are other Users like you, and Apple movers and shakers do not troll the forums looking for complaints of problems.

If they will replace you logic board at no cost, then your issue should be solved.

The entire point of the community is to bring up problems like these, so others, who might face this can get an idea as to what's happening, and what solutions were considered, whether it's a one off problem or not. I chose to record it on the community while others may have not. No one is trolling any one.

I am glad some one pointed it out on reddit, and now I have here.
