Change Video: High Contrast Day to Night

I'm trying to turn this video to night - below is a still image of the video. The contrast is so great that regular Day to Night methods aren't working. I'm also trying the green screen keyer but can't seem to figure out how to select the "daylight" when I do "sample color" or "edges" it just makes the whole scene disappear. I'm up for ideas - don't feel bad talking as basic as possible - I thought I knew how to fix this - but apparently am wrong.

You could try just using Color Board Effects. It will take (at least) two. Use an Effects Mask to select the light areas outside the tunnel and darken them up. Use the second Color Board to desaturate and control the incident lighting.

Color Board 1 approximations:

(exposure)

(color - boost blue highlights for the "night cast" effect)

Color Board 2 approximations:

(exposure)

(saturation)
