2018 Macbook Air with Ventura - should I upgrade to Sonoma?

I am new to Macbook and Mac OS.

I bought a refurbished 2018 Macbook Air (Retina) which had a clean install and came with macOS Ventura.

The software upgrade has the option for Sonoma.

Should I upgrade to Sonoma or will that impact performance given its a 2018 device?

Just dont want to slow it down beyond use.

Thanks

Do your homework.

Check to make sure that all of your apps and all your devices you connect to your Mac along with the drivers for those devices are compatible with macOS Sonoma. As far as devices, disk drives, mice, keyboards are almost never an issue but if you use specialized software/drivers for displays that can sometimes be an issue so you need to check compatibility. Make sure that all are up to date and update/upgrade if required when moving to the new OS.

The vast majority of issues after upgrading to a new macOS are almost always related to incompatible apps or third party devices and drivers.
