MacOS Catalina built-in apps

I have just "inherited" my first MacBook from my daughter who finished uni and got a $6,000 dollar M3 Pro. That darn thing is worth more than my car!!

Question: Does Catalina come with an office equivalent app already included? Like Word or Writer and spreadsheet app, how do I launch it? I could not find it in the Launcher. Or do I have to go get (as in download) if I have to go get, can you recommend something with a small footprint. This old Mac is running 4Gigs of RAM and an old i5 dual core CPU (1.7Ghz)

Many more questions to come - LOL , but so far I love this old laptop.

Ignore Ace Office. Download and install the free LibreOffice 2024.02 Suite, which is an MS Office clone. Documentation. Did your daughter previously install MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint for her Uni assignments, or did she install Pages, Numbers, and Keynote? Any of which you would discover by opening a Finder window, and clicking on the Applications folder in its side bar.


Apple's macOS does not bundle any office suite with the operating system. There is Pages, Numbers, and Keynote which are not Microsoft clones of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Currently, these require a newer operating system than macOS Catalina for installation. It is likely for her Uni studies that your daughter had
