iPod 6th Gen Battery Percentage

So according to the below article, it is (or at the very least was) possible to get a battery percentage on the 6th generation iPod Touch through use of widgets, but after trying everything in the post, I was unable to get it to work. The only difference of note is that i am running with iOS 12.5.7, not 11.3.

It was my reply to the discussion that you linked to that provided the steps needed to add the battery percentage. However, note the extended discussion about it, in which user Aeradore suggested that one needed to pair the iPod to a Bluetooth device first and only once that had been done could you find the battery percentage option on the widgets menu.

Both then and now I regard this as bizarre: why on earth would Apple have a battery percentage option that only appeared once you had performed a totally unrelated procedure (i.e. pairing a device to the iPod by Bluetooth)? Mind you, my first reply did state that there was no battery percentage option on that iPod. Perhaps my later reply several days later was after I had used Bluetooth. I don't recall that six years on.

Once tip: in that discussion, tap the Sort Order option and sort the discussion into Oldest First order. The option is below the Best Reply (my one, with the screenshots). At least that will make it easier to follow the discussion (although it will still display the Best Reply twice).

Anyway, there's not much more that I can add to my reply except to tell you that the two 6th gen iPod Touches that I used are now both on iOS 12.5.7 and both still have the battery percentage showing. Have you tried pairing to something by Bluetooth to see if Aeradores's suggestion worked? I can't try it as my iPods already show the widget.

Try the steps I outlined there. If it still doesn't work, please state which step did not work as expected. It might help us to rectify the issue.
