Select recent calls in mass, then diselect the ones you want to keep before deleting?

I used to be able to select ALL recent calls in mass, then deselect the ones

I wanted to keep before deleting the rest. Now if I wish to keep just one recent call and delete the rest, I must delete each of the unwanted calls individually. Who has time for that? The selection "button" is there (see pic), but it does nothing when I click on it.
