I got married recently and my photographer sent me my wedding pictures in CR3 format and I can't seem to be able to open them.
Any ideas on how I can open them (without purchasing software...) on my Mac?

CR3 is the standard file designation for Canon RAW files. Some Canon cameras are natively supported, some are not. You should be able to view, convert, etc. them with the free XnView MP app.
