Document scanning with files app auto/manual capture

Every time I scan a document using the Apple files app scanner or in notes it is set to auto capture. This never seems to work and I always have to edit the borders of the capture.

is there not a way to turn this to manual permanently?

It’s really annoying scanning 10 files a day and turning this off every file.

especially when if you don’t turn it off in the first second it’s already too late.

When I tested this it took scans of a document right after another, leaving no time to position a different document for scanning. I think turning off Auto mode will resolve this...

changes to notes app behaviour with change to Sonoma (from Catalina) macOS Sonoma has changed the way scanned (notes app, > new note > camera icon > Scan Documents) objects presented are handled. Previously when accessing a scan done on iPhone, using the MacDesktop notes app, one could use <right clicK. and <shows scans>, or drag the object in notes app to the desktop (or elsewhere). This functionality has disappeared or is hidden somewhere. Now the only object type available seems to be .pdf, and one cannot get at the contents (text content) of the pdf as was previously available by selecting the text in the .jpg object that was available in the notes app. Previously one could select to use .jpg, .pdf. or even plain text i think. Anyway, our workflow has been broken and we are a bit shitty about that. Who knows, the new arrangement may be far superior, but we just cannot see it.

Scanning large coloring book page spreads with iPhone What is the easiest way to scan finished page spreads of a coloring book? It's too big for my scanner. I've been using the Notes function to scan each page spread with my iPhone, but then getting the image out of the note file and saving it as a png on my Mac is a pain (or maybe I'm doing it wrong). Is there a better, easier way, maybe even with better image quality? Right now I have a file folder full of the png files, but the aim is to combine them into, say, a pdf when I'm done. Thank you!
