failed to prepare update 14.x

6+ months now. I get this error every time I try and update past 14.0. got it on 14.1, 14.1.1, 14.2 and now on 14.3 when trying to update my M1 macbook air. dozens and dozens of tries and fails.

I have tried updating via the "Software update" in System settings with no success. I also tried installing manually via Terminal. No success. When is apple going to fix this? the only support articles are BS talking about making sure you have a good internet connection. I have a stable 900+ mb fiber connection thats never had a problem. I figured one of these days I would just go over to the Apple store and see if someone there can get the update to take. Unless someone here knows a strong fix for this?

MacBook, macOS 10.13

have you tried the update from a Safeboot

Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support Login and test your update download.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Duhockey, I'm glad you succeeded with your update, safe mode can be used to solve more than one issue. The fact that safe mode doesn't run any login items could suggest that you have something installed causing problems which loads with a normal startup. Apps which are known to cause problems and which aren't needed by macOS should be uninstalled using the developer's instructions they include anti-virus and cleanup (maintenance) apps.
