If Apple is so concerned with recycling, why is they refuse to keep software updated fo the older operating systems.

There is NO support or upgrade options for my older Imac, which still runs just fine. Mine has the features I like and use and I do not wish to pay for a new stripped down version. My I mac runs great but Apple refuses to allow the OS system to be updated, upgraded and are forcing me to purchase new

Software simply cannot make up for the lack of hardware required in newer versions of the OS. Not only is the speed of the CPU much slower, but also the GPU speed and size, would severely limit any operation you would try to do. Newer OS versions take advantage of hardware that could not be anticipated at that time such as the T2 security chip and communication features baked into the Bluetooth chip and Communication modules.

Apple offers a recycling program to keep the devices out of landfills. This keeps chemicals from polluting the earth and allows reuse of the metal and plastics. As you said you can continue to use your old Macs. I have an old MacBook that I take on vacation and use it for web browsing and email without a problem.

I have pretty much reached max with High Sierra OS, because it cannot be further upgraded I am not able to use it with todays applications.

eventually ALL computers will need to be replaced if you have a need for them to work with modern software. this is not just applicable to Macs, but also to windows machines, and even Chromebooks. computers' hardware will always fall behind of new software. sorry, that is just how it is.

and if it is tops out at High Sierra, it has already given you a very long life in computer years.
