Does Line 6 Sonic Port work with the new Apple USB C to Lightning adapter

I have an older Line 6 Sonic Port guitar interface which has an attached proprietary lightning cable and cannot work with my new iPad Air, which has a USB C port. Line 6 have not brought out a converter cable and apparently do not intend to do so. The Sonic Port and its Mobile Pod software works well on older iPads and still sound great. The Mobile Pod app loads on my iPad Air and the demo sounds work, so it is the physical connection which is lacking. I have read numerous discussions on the net saying that all third party USB C to Lightning adapters do not work with the Sonic Port.

Apple recently brought out a MFI certified USB C to Lightning adapter, which says it works for data and audio as well as charging. Has anyone tried this adapter with the Sonic Port? Does it work? I want to confirm this before spending 49 Australian dollars on the adapter. My Sonic Port is the non VX type. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
