Logic Finder showing Desktop folder as Alias

I'm using Logic 10.8.1 on an M3 MBP with Sonoma 14.1.2

When I search for files/projects in Logic Pro's finder, I click on the user folder and it displays several folders in the column, including Desktop. When I click on the Desktop folder itself, it appears as an alias in the space above the search bar, and does not display any content in the column below the search bar.

Similarly, if I enter the names of files in the search bar that are on my Desktop, it shows nothing in the column below i.e. no results.

I've tried adding/removing the Desktop folder from "Prevent Spotlight from searching these locations" to relist it, as suggested in other forums, but to no effect.

I've searched in Spotlight itself for content that is on the Desktop, and it works fine, it's only in Logic that this is an issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what might be causing this and how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance!

That doesn't appear to be an alias symbol, but more like a download symbol. You might be using the iCloud feature that stores your desktop and documents folder in the cloud. Or possibly Dropbox or some other cloud system. When you utilize those, the often will keep the file/folder etc in the cloud until you click on them in the finder and then it is downloaded. Logic doesn't have a way to access item in the cloud if you don't have an internet connection. which might be why you can't access them through Logic's finder.

Thanks for your reply!

I think you're right that it is a download symbol actually, not an alias. However, I'm not using iCloud or anything else for storage, so can't work out why the desktop folder should show up like this in Logic.

When I click the project button in Logic's finder, it shows the currently opened project - which is stored on the desktop- but with the download symbol on the Desktop and Project folder. (And still doesn't show any other projects also on the Desktop).

If you have any suggestions for how to resolve this, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks again for your time.
