LG Slim portable DVD writer does not connect to my MacBook Pro

Connected the dvd write but does not show in the finder

The empty drive will not be displayed by Finder, but if you insert a disc, then that volume should.

You also need to makes sure that "CDs, DVDs and iPods is enabled in "Show these items on the desktop" in Finder > Preferences.

What year is your iMac? Some require cable adaptors.

This section is for pre-2006 iMacs and gets few views. Is yours that old?

Preferences are enabled and with a CD mounted in de writer the problem remains.

I set wrongly iMac, but it is a recent (2022) MacBook Pro with OS Sonoma 14.2.1
