Hidden network not auto-connecting, not saved

My home network has been hidden (SSID) for many years. But for some reason recently my MacBook Pro (2019, intel) is no longer auto-detecting the network. Whenever I leave the house and later return, I have to manually enter the network details (SSID and password), or else the MBP doesn't connect.

Looking in my list of wifi networks, the home network is not there. I enter the network details, it connects just fine, I go to Settings >> Wi-Fi and it lists my home network in the list of "Known Networks", I ensure it is set to "Auto-Join". But when I disconnect from the network (e.g. leave the house), and then return....I have to go through all these steps again.

I've never had any issues reconnecting to a hidden network for any OS up to & including Ventura, however, I have never used or tried Sonoma with a hidden network.

You may want to power cycle your router to see if that makes a difference.

Does your router provide more than one possible type of wireless protocol?

Create a new macOS user account. Log out of your main user account & log into the new user account. See how it behaves while using the new user account. If the new user account works, but the main user account does not, then you have narrowed down the problem. Maybe the .plist preference file for WiFi within your main user account is corrupt.

Are you running any anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software? Perhaps they are causing a problem.
