Apple Podcasts keeps trying play an already played podcast episode every time I open the app

Every time I close and then reopen the podcast app, an already played podcast (it’s always the same episode) keeps getting added to the top of my playlist queue as if I had been listening to that episode before I closed the app. It bumps the podcast I actually was listening to the next up episode in the queue and keeps the rest of the queue in order, but it’s super annoying having the same episode start up every time I open the app, then having to open the playlist queue and find the episode I was actually listening to, and then start that one. Does anybody else have this problem?
