Dictataion in Google Docs in Chrome issue

I've enabled dictation on my Macbook, but it doesn't work in Chrome in Google Docs. It does work in Chrome in other environments, and it also works in Google Docs in Safari. However, I would like to use it in Chrome in Google Docs. Any ideas?

Where is my dictation function? Over the weekend my Mac Mini (OS 12.4) seems to have forgotten how to take dictation. Last week I dictated freely into Word (v. 16.62). Today, though neither Word nor Pages (v. 12.1) records my dictation. In Word I do not see any indication as to what the problem is. But in Pages I do not see the dictation tool in the Edit menu. I have seen that tool before. It is not there now. I did not change any settings in my computer over the weekend. What would make the dictation tool disappear from Pages?
