Can't add printer to MacBook Air

I recently got a Brothers laser printer to use with my MacBook Air. When I tried to add the printer I got as far as the add page but there was no list of printers to add the printer to and so the Mac would not let me add to a non-existing list. I did check to see that I had the most recent printer software so I don't think the issue is with the printer itself but with the missing list on the Mac. Thoughts?

Assuming your Brother printer and MacBook Air connection is wireless, did you confirm your printer is connected to your WiFi?

You didn't provide the model number of your Brother printer, but with it we could check and see if it's AirPrint compatible. You also didn't provide any details of your MacBook Air. If you can, take a screenshot of these details by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting About This Mac. (Black out the serial number...no sense in disclosing that here).

Robin,

No problem!

I've checked your printer online, and it's AirPrint compatible. (In fact, they recommend connecting it via AirPrint rather than using driver software).

So in order to do this, you'll need to review the manual for your printer and get it connected to your WiFi network.

Once you've confirmed it's connected to WiFi, go back to your MacBook Air and it should find it. Here's how to add it: Add a printer to your Wi-Fi network in AirPort Utility on Mac - Apple Support

Hope this helps!
