All Songs Duplicated in iTunes Playlist - How to resolve - Laptop -

This is an answer for all those looking. Maybe not worded properly. But here it is.

It is a Laptop fix - This is not for actual duplicated songs that are there. This is to fix a fluke that duplicates thousands of items in your iTunes Playlist. This removes the nightmare of thousands of duplicated items in the whole library! You should already know you have no actual duplicates before you follow what I say. This is to fix the ENTIRE PLAYLIST for the MUSIC app.

Well- I couldn't find a solution since most posts assume I need to delete a few songs that I have duplicates of. I did not have any duplicate songs or any that were an issue. Just every song on every album was duplicated. We will just say deleting them one by one is stupid if you have a few thousand! And you do not have actual duplicated song files! The iTunes program thinks it has doubles of all songs. And this is a pain in the you know what. Nothing worked that anyone or Apple had posted. Keep in mind this is for those with extensive music libraries where every song is duplicated in the iTunes programs list. You do not have duplicates and it's a system glitch. If you have real duplicates do not do this. Read the whole thing first!

Also - I am not using iTunes Music Service and downloading songs. This advice is for people with actual music they own. Either bought from Apple or scanned in themselves. It fixes the Playlist!

The Fix:

1. First and foremost - You must find your MUSIC folder and back it up to a drive or other device. This is in case you mess up. (( User Folder>"Your User Folder">Music>Music>Media>Music )). Copy that whole last Music folder to another device. Your folder might not be in the path I stated. Find That music folder.
2. REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT DELETEING ANYTHING. You backed up in case "you" mess up.
3. Open MUSIC app (iTunes)
4. Select ALBUMS - All Albums Should show as covers
5. Choose - SELECT ALL - under the EDIT menu
6. Choose - DELETE FROM LIBRARY - under the SONG menu - (Remember you are not deleting- you also backed up! So don't panic.)
7. PAY ATTENTION - A pop-up will ask you if you wish to delete selected items -
8. Slow down and select - DELETE ITEMS - one click only !!! This seems scary but pay attention.
9. Another pop-up will show up - select - KEEP FILES - (DO NOT MOVE TO TRASH !!!) KEEP THE FILES.
10. Only the selected Albums will be deleted. In each category. You might have to repeat 4-9 on other categories in the Album area. (I had a three I believe. Probably depends on you)
11. You should have a blank area in the ALBUM section when you are done.
12. Your Music is still in the area it was at the beginning of this ; (( User Folder>"Your User Folder">Music>Music>Media>Music )) or in the folder where you found it.
13. With iTunes Music Open -Goto that last MUSIC folder - Drag it to the MUSIC icon in the application bar. This is called Kissing the Program with what you wish it to see.
14. This dragging of the folder to the MUSIC app will have it load a list of all those albums. You will get a new playlist without any duplicated items. You allow it to load the files. You wait.
15. Again. If your collection has real duplicated songs. Those will show but the thousands of false Duplicates you had in the playlist are gone.
16. You might need to update/download the album covers.
17. Also if you did mess up. Copy the backup copy of your music folder to where it goes. Kiss that folder to the open MUSIC program icon in the bar. Boom! You lost nothing. So you always back up! Always!
