is it possible to specifically locate my stolen iphone 15plus when its switched off..it does show the area but in a generic way
Can it be narrowed to a specific location ?
Possibly. When the iPhone is powered off, it still sends out a very brief intermittent Bluetooth signal that can theoretically be picked up by another iOS device in very close proximity. This is how the AirTag works.
Realistically though the chances that there will be other iPhones operating normally in very close proximity to your iPhone........less than 50 feet away....are not that good.
And......iPhone thieves are very fond of placing a stolen phone in a special type of bag that will not allow your phone to send or receive a signal. So, it won't matter whether the phone is powered on or off......and the thieves know this of course.
Overall, the chances that your phone will appear on the Find My map are not that bad. If it does, depending on other devices in very close proximity to the iPhone, the location would be pretty accurate down to about 20-30 feet.
This assumes that the phone is in a one story building. If the phone is on the 9th floor of an apartment complex, Find My cannot detect what floor the phone might be on, so the location displayed.....if it is displayed.....will be very general.
