How to identify and manage the "Allow in the Background" apps on MacBook Pro

I have an item listed in settings under "Allow in the Background" as Ben Gotow.


I could not find any information to tell me what this item was, so I turned it off. Does anyone know which application it is from?


I want to remove it, but turning off the Allow in the Background for it is good enough, I hope.


This is on a MacBook Pro.

Unfortunately Apple provided an interface to reveal this items, but neglected to do it properly so there is no way to know what any background item is associated with unless it just so happens to have the name of the app or developer in it. People should just ignore the Background App options in System Settings if they want their installed software to work.


Of course you can turn the item off to wait & see what breaks. If it is an app you don't use very often, then by the time you use that app you may have forgotten about turning off the Background App process & wonder why your app is broken.
