Settings>Phone>My Number

I ported my mobile phone number from Virgin/O2 to Lebara (Vodafone) today but my iPhone 12 mini hasn’t updated My Number, which still shows the interim number that came with the Lebara SIM card.

I have tried to update My Number manually and restarted the phone a couple of times, but each time it reverts back to the interim number which is now defunct.

Does anyone have a solution?

After a few days’ trial and error following Community posts, I stumbled across a solution:

Sign out of Messages/FaceTime/Game Center/etc. on all devices.

Sign in to Apple ID online (applied.Apple.com) and go to Sign-In and Security then open the Email & Phone Numbers page. Add new phone number (e.g. your ported number) even if it’s already listed.

Power off your devices.

Power on your phone. Open Settings>Phone>My Number. Remove the existing/temporary/incorrect number and replace it with your ported/correct number. Press Save and return to Settings.

Turn on Messages on your phone and tick against the number you added. It should verify/authenticate, but the email address may have a cogwheel turning.

Turn on Messages on your other devices, then FaceTime on your phone and other devices. This should verify/authenticate them.

Now, your correct/ported phone number should show as My Number on your phone and as the registered number for iMessages and FaceTime.

Best of luck.

It really shouldn’t be this difficult.

Yes, it’s been activated and Lebara has confirmed that my Virgin/O2 number was successfully moved.

Dialling *#100# shows the correct (ported) phone number, but elsewhere in Settings it is still showing incorrectly the number attached to the Lebara SIM card.

I’ve removed and replaced the SIM card, but nothing has changed,

I’ve also followed the steps suggested by community member LD150, but still nothing has changed.

Worryingly, both iMessage and FaceTime are telling me that the ported number is not associated with the phone (even though it is the number registered to my Apple ID) and will be removed in 27 days.
