Black screen while connecting to Mac Mini using Tight VNC

I'm using a Mac mini with Sonoma 14.3 and trying to remote to the machine from Windows using Tight VNC/real VNC. Configured below in Mac mini settings:

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, then select Remote Management in the list at the left.
  2. Enable "Always show Remote Management status in menu bar."
  3. Set "Anyone may request permission to control screen" to “On”.
  4. Allow "VNC viewers may control screen with password" and establish a password.
  5. Add users who are permitted remote access
  6. In the Options dialog, select the permissions remote users will have; Enable all permissions for comprehensive control.

Mac mini is connected to ethernet and while trying to connect with TightVNC getting a black screen as below. Has some one faced the issue before?

Just encountered this on a Mac mini M2 running 14.3.1 after migrating the data from an iMac 2019 also running 14.3.1. My other Mac mini M2, same model and macOS version, has not encountered this issue recently, and I don’t believe at all that I can think of. I’m using Screens on iPadOS as the remote client.

I’m sure it’s a settings or permissions issue related to the migration, just haven’t had a chance to fiddle with it yet. I’ll follow up once I figure it out.
