Alias applications folder keeps replicating

An alias application folder showed up and every time I click on the alias it creates another alias folder.

You have, inside the Applications folder, an alias that itself points to the same Applications folder.
Control-click on the alias and choose Move to Trash. Empty the trash. Done.

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.
Login and drlete the offending alias.
Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically
