how to get iTunes to find my files

For some reason iTunes lost a lost of my files. Something with a flag was set in an iTunes file that wasn't supposed to be set.

Is there a way to get iTunes to scan my iTunes drive for Music and video files?

I know the files are there. I had this happen when I turned on home sharing. Its been three weeks of trying to pice everything but I know I am still missing a bunch of music and movie/TV/Home video files.

Running 10.14.6 on an Intel i7 mini with an external iTunes drive. 12.5 TB's of files is what I would be recovering

Please Help.
