While it's understandable to be frustrated with the camera on your iPhone 15, it's important to note that several factors could be impacting your experience, not just auto-enhancement.

Here's a breakdown of the situation:

  1. Auto-Enhancement: Unlike previous models, the iPhone 15 relies heavily on computational photography, including a feature called Deep Fusion, which automatically applies adjustments like exposure, color correction, and noise reduction. While this aims to improve image quality, it might not always align with your preferences. Unfortunately, Apple currently doesn't offer a way to disable Deep Fusion entirely.
  2. Potential Issues: It's also possible your specific phone might have camera hardware or software issues causing the problems you're experiencing.
  3. Comparison: Comparing the iPhone 15 to the XR might not be entirely fair. The iPhone 15 likely boasts more advanced camera hardware and features, and the difference you perceive could be due to the different processing algorithms used, not necessarily a decline in quality.
    1. XR Camera
      1. 12MP Wide camera
      2. ƒ/1.8 aperture
      3. Digital zoom up to 5x
    2. iPhone 15 Advanced dual-camera system
      1. 48MP Main: 26 mm, ƒ/1.6 aperture, sensor‑shift optical image stabilisation, 100% Focus Pixels, support for super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP)
      2. 12MP Ultra Wide: 13 mm, ƒ/2.4 aperture and 120° field of view
      3. 12MP 2x Telephoto (enabled by quad-pixel sensor): 52 mm, ƒ/1.6 aperture, sensor-shift optical image stabilisation, 100% Focus Pixels
      4. 2x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 4x optical zoom range
      5. Digital zoom up to 10x
      6. Sapphire crystal lens cover

Here are some things you can try:

  1. Update iOS: Ensure you're running the latest iOS version, as Apple might address camera-related issues in updates.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)
  2. Try different lighting conditions: Lighting plays a crucial role in photo quality. Experiment with different lighting scenarios and see if it improves your results. Lighting needs and its effects on iPhone … - Apple Community

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.
