How do I make Safari go to the window when I open it?

When I click on Safari in the toolbar when I'm on the desktop screen, it opens (shows safari in the upper left corner of the screen), but it doesn't go to the window - I have to 4-finger swipe up to see where the safari window is and then select it to get it to come up. I s there a way to do this automatically so I don't have to look for where my window is?
