If I cancel AppleTV do I keep my purchase

I can't find a straight answer on this anywhere. We currently subscribe to Apple TV+. I just bought a movie. This is why I normally don't buy digital, though, because now I realize we may lose it if we stop our subscription, which we were planning on doing. If we cancel our subscription, will we be able to still watch those movies or shows we've purchased through Apple TV+? How can I keep it? I did pay for it, after all.

Yes you keep your purchases even if you do not have a subscription. For clarification:

You can download movies for free with an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC in order to watch them on another device when you have a subscription. These are not purchases and will not be saved after the subscription ends.

Download and stream shows, movies, and events from Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, and Apple TV channels - Apple Support

You can purchase movies with or without a subscription and those are yours no matter what your subscription status is. They will appear in the Library section of the Apple TV app.
