Use automation to turn notification ON/OFF of an individual application.

  • I effectively want to use work profile but since that is not available on iOS, I want to turn the notifications ON when my shift starts and turn notifications OFF when my shift ends.
  • I tried to use the FOCUS modes, but that has other concerns. Other applications also suffer due to. In short Focus mode is not usable for me.
  • Now what I have to do is, go to settings, go to the application settings and then turn notifications ON/OFF manually.

Is there any way we can turn notifications On/OFF of a particular application using automation?

Hello mirfank,

A solution would be to approach the problem as your “off” time instead of your “at work” time.

Create a custom focus named, for instance “Not Working”. In the focus, choose “Silence notifications from” and select the app that you do not want to receive notifications from when you are not at work.

Now, create a personal automation based on the time you finish your shift, add the “Set Focus” action and set it, tap the “Turn” word in the action and choose “Toggle” and tap “Do Not Disturb” and choose your “Not Working” focus. This automation will have the effect of turning off the notifications.

Then, create an another personal automation based on the time you start your shift and use the same settings as above. This second automation will have the effect of turning on the notifications.

That would turn off all notifications.

close best is using Focus, but that has impact on other applications.

I need automation to turn notifications ON/OFF for one specific application.

What I do is turn notifications ON every day in the morning and then turn off notifications of the app at the end of the day in the application settings.
