/usr/libexec/swcd attempts to connect to app-site-association.cdn-apple.com.

For the past few days, the executable /usr/libexec/swcd (com.apple.swcd) has been trying to connect to the domain app-site-association.cdn-apple.com on ports 53 and 443.

Since I had never seen this process try to connect to the network before, I was wondering if it was a safe process.

I thank anyone who can answer me.

P.S. I have already read the article https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250111811?sortBy=best, but I am not sure if it is safe for the executable to connect to that site.

It is part of macOS and it is accessing Apple Content Deliver Network (CDN) which hosts all the Apple software & updates.

As mentioned by @leroydouglas in your linked thread, this is all perfectly normal for macOS.

Ok. I suspected something because I've been using my iMac for a year and the swcd executable had never connected to the network before. There have been no recent updates to macOS or my firewall software. I did install a new application from the Apple Store, but I don't know if that's the one trying to connect to the network. That's why I opened this thread. I assume your computer also has this service (swcd) that connects to the network, right?
