Battery maximum capacity decreased by 9% in less than 7months

Hi,

I bought my Macbook Pro 14-inch M1 Chip about 7months ago and I am using it for mobile development, my average screen usage is 6.5hours,

I recently found that my battery status is 91% and very strange and unusual, Could you please tell me what you think, is that normal? should I contact Apple Service?

 Cell Revision: 4814

 Charge Information:

The battery’s charge is below the warning level: No

 Fully Charged: No

 Charging: No

 State of Charge (%): 80

 Health Information:

 Cycle Count: 127

 Condition: Normal

 Maximum Capacity: 91%

Thank you

MacBook Pro 14″

Nothing unusual with the stats provided. Even though you bought the Mac 7 months ago, that battery would have been manufactured about 3.5 years ago and they do degrade with time. There is nothing wrong with a 91% Maximum Capacity reading. I would expect a screen usage time of 6.5 hours to be normal, especially if you are using Xcode for your mobile development.

If you are experiencing "strange and unusual" behavior, describe what the issues are. With what has been provided there is no indication that the battery would be giving you any trouble.

If you want peace of mind go ahead and call Apple. You will no doubt be told everything is normal. Some years ago Apple was sued for not providing enough information about battery performance and how they manage battery charging and throttling to extend battery life as long as possible. In my opinion Apple now provides too much information resulting in users obsessing over battery health, charging cycles, etc. Opinions are all over the place as to how the user might maximize their battery life. Don't worry about it is the best advice. Just realize that batteries are the one consumable component of any electronic device. The minute you start to use them they start to degrade. Some day in the future you will have to deal with either replacing your battery or buying a new machine instead. It is inevitable.

Thank you very much

Gotcha! Your cycle count is low, but I would not expect the Maximum Capacity to have been at 100% nearly 3 years after production even though you had just purchased the Mac 7 months ago. There is nothing you need to worry about and good luck with your mobile development.

I think 7 months is too soon to draw conclusions. These numbers can actually get "better" sometimes or fluctuate.

For instance, a 2019 Macbook Pro, purchased new ... after 21 months was showing 91% of capacity. But then after 46 months was showing ... 91% of capacity. Now 62 months, showing 88% of capacity. The evolution is not linear.
