Plug-ins are not free in respect to memory, cpu, or gpu consumption. Thus, they contribute to quicker battery drain, whether in Firefox or Safari. Re-consider what is more important to you, the plug-ins or less battery drain. And every tab you have open is another battery draining system process…
Check for available Firefox updates, then check for any other previous similar reports of FirefoxCP Isolated Web Content memory usage issues, then report the issue to Mozilla.
The general resource-related and issue-reporting guidelines from Mozilla:
Based on the previous reports, this looks to be a known issue with Firefox.
There are other factors that might affect your experience with Firefox. Such as how much memory you have and hard disk available space (for virtual memory). As well as the types of web sites you are visiting with Firefox and their type of content, e.g. some have constant streaming content (ads, or whatever) and others have noted (see link below) that Firefox takes tremendous resources, as much memory as the computer has (32 GB or more) and also virtual memory, plus using much of the processor resources. What this will translate into is draining of the Mac's battery, if those things apply to your situation, e.g. from the stressing of the processor and drive access (for virtual memory). I don't know if Firefox handling of web site videos or graphics is better or worse with respect to energy consumption than other browsers. I do know anecdotally that my wife, who uses Firefox, has drained her iMac's resources at times due to having dozens of Firefox windows left open, some of which are taking a lot of resources. I have tried to get her to change to something else but she likes Firefox, so be it.
If I were you, I would test carefully, trying to reproduce identical conditions, for each of Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (and maybe Brave) using the browser as you normally would, just to see if one or the other helps with your battery issue.
This has been discussed at length at
but note that the thread is over a year old.
Use Safari instead.
Sure. I got all those points for spamming people. It is what you haven't shared here that more than likely contributed to that 8K 12 hr Power reading for Firefox and it will use your GPU every chance it gets.
I am in Safari with a single-plugin (noir) at least 12 hours per day in these communities trying to help those that don't accuse me of spamming them. My last 12-hour Power score for Safari is 25.26. Firefox is 11.81.
"It is what you haven't shared here that more than likely contributed to that 8K 12 hr Power reading for Firefox"
What is "it"?
"It" appears only as "FirefoxCP Isolated Web Content".
Does anybody know if Brave, Chrome or any other Chromium-based browser have fixed the bug?
There is nothing wrong with Firefox if you prefer to use it, but this is an Apple product support site. If Firefox is not functioning in accordance to your expectations, then you can either choose to use Safari, or participate in improving Firefox.
If you choose the latter start here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/

Brave seems to work well, although I haven't performed any energy-specific comparisons between it and Safari. There is no need to install Google.
Hey, even I have the same issue and this drains my Mac battery extremely fast. Does this indicate a hardware issue with my system? I face this issue with chrome and Firefox and occasionally safari too. It’s more of a randomly occurring issue, occurs like 40% of the time out of nowhere with very few tabs open too, and I have been dealing with this for the past 4 months. I am wondering is this a hardware issue with the Mac?
Too many plugins and other things aren't supported in Safari

The efficiency you want seemingly isn’t supported in Firefox.
No need to spam if you don't actually know the answer. This is clearly a many standard deviation statistical outlier in terms of the power consumption. Just look at the chart.
Which browser do you suggest?
