Hi, transferred photos from USB to Photos: my original library has disappeared!

How did you do that? Did you drag the library from the external drive into the same folder as your original library? If you did and they were the same name you would have replaced the original library with the old one. As you've already been requested please describe exactly what you did and how you did it.

How have you searched for your missing Library? One way to find Libraries is to close Photos and then option-click on the Photos icon. This opens a dialog showing all the Libraries that Photos knows about:

If you see a Library you didn't know you have, you can find the path to it at the bottom.

There may be Libraries that Photos can't find. In that case you can do a Finder to find them, like this:

It doesn't find things in the trash, so be sure to look there.

Well, it's not really clear what you did. You said, "I decided to move an old photos library I had stored on a USB onto Photos to increase the size of the library." Did you have pictures on a Flash drive that were in Finder folders? or in a Photos Library? What do you mean "move?" Did you drag picture files to the Photos icon? Did you use Photos>File>Import to import new pictures into the Library? Or did you try something different?

When you said that your search was "to no avail," what did you mean? What did you find?

You also mention "the library on the USB." I'm confused about just what you did-- can you be explicit?
