My iPad Air 5th generation charging cable won't last past 10 months

My iPad works fine, then, about every 10 months or so, I have to buy a new charging cord. I love the iPad but am not happy with how often I must buy a new charger cord ( around 25 dollars) every 10 months to a year. I think it is due to the design of the connection to the charging cord. My iPhone does t have this issue, so, I’m able to use the same cord without yet having to buy a new charger.
