Where is the Apple ThunderBolt2 to Firewire800 adapter?

I can't find the Apple ThunderBolt2 to Firewire800 adapter on the Apple store website or on any other site that had previously distributed it (such as Amazon). Is it now discontinued? It was available for purchase just a year ago.

The people that work for Apple may or may not read postings around here, and only rarely reply.

Apple isn’t known for commenting on their stocking plans, or on their deprecation plans.

The last Macs with FireWire were released back around 2012.

Here?

I’m seeing no listing in the US Apple Store. Not out of stock, but none.

Buy a used adapter.

Or migrate the FireWire device, or migrate the HDD itself in a USB sled, or whatever else is appropriate for local requirements.

If I had to guess, Apple is just following its support policy. That is for devices that used these ports. If they were manufactured more than seven years ago, they would be considered "obsolete." As such, Apple would not provide any software or hardware support for them. Most likely, that will hold true for cables as well. Typically, as I'm sure you are aware, this is where third-party supplies step-in.

Since either Thunderbolt 2, and especially Firewire 800 ports, are becoming more and more rare (AFAIK, no current computing devices sold today have these old port types), getting cables will become more difficult.

I know I can find them on eBay. But the eBay ones cost twice as much as buying them the official way (from Apple or an Apple authorized seller like Amazon). I'm looking for an official statement, if Apple has or has not officially discontinued the selling and manufacturing of this product. Your reply suggesting I buy it on eBay is not helpful, which is why I downvoted it.

The real question is if it's not discontinued (and I'm not sure if it is, as no official statement has said it was), why are they out of stock from all the official distributors? Is there just a long factory lead time to get them from the factory to the authorized distributors?

Will an Apple Inc. employee PLEASE COMMENT on this situation. I'm looking for an OFFICIAL statement, as to if this product has been discontinued or not.
