How to Fix iPhone 11 Performance Issues After iOS 17 Update?

I have tried hard to fix performance issues with my iPhone 11 after the update to IOS 17 but even after going though the various factory resets it's remains a problem (this only started after the update).

The biggest problem is I did not have a backup from before the new IOS and the the IOS 16 versions are now unsigned, so my question is did apple brick my phone with the update?

I ask this because downgrading is not an option provided by apple and since the older versions of IOS are not supported factory resets are just a loop that takes time to get the same results (doing the same thing expecting new results will never achieve anything but wasted time).

I am not willing to jail brake my iphone as this is against policy and is also risky, so I can only wonder what options I have that do not involve being told the obvious (it cant be done or buy a new phone I can not afford).

I have confidence in my ability to research and trouble shoot and so am looking to get answers not a redirection back to basic's like "have you tried a reset/diagnostics/repair".

And just to reiterate the iphone was working perfectly until the update and after this the phone is buggy it lags the battery drains and apps crash and are unstable (overall the phone is basically now a brick).

I appreciate your answers and will be sure to take note of the level of reply into consideration before replying back myself.

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried these options as noted in my original post and a brief chat with a tech at an apple genius bar resulted in being told that I could not downgrade my IOS.

They also noted that the performance issues I am facing would not likely be fixed by their assistance citing the Iphone 11 as being old and needing a replacement, so their focus was on selling me a new phone.

The reason I turned to the community board was to hopefully get a response beyond that of a sales pitch for new phones or a costly exercise in being told my phone is getting old and the new software is now too much for it.

Hello Michael,

Three basic troubleshooting steps to perform (test after each attempt):

A) Try a "forced" restart of your device using these instructions: Put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these gestures:

In rapid sequence, press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).

B) If you can, check your battery status in Settings>Battery>Battery Health & Charging>Maximum capacity. If it is close to 83-80%, have it replaced as soon as possible, since it might have unpredictable behavior.

C) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

this has happened to my iphone 11 also- does it mean someone can hack into and get passwords and cc information?

Well, I have been using an iPhone since the beginning of 2019 and, although it is not a "lightning", it meets my needs, so I have no intention of changing it, at least as long as it supports the latest version of iOS.

I wish I could give you more help but, beyond what was suggested in my previous answer, I have nothing else to offer, sorry.
