I have a mid-2012 macbook pro running macos catalina and a mac mini from 2008/2009 (i think) running macos lion and i want to screen share from my mac mini to my macbook. Can some1 tell if you can screen share using an apple software/3rd party sowtware?

Yes. If both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, look for the Mac Mini in the MacBook's Finder's side Panel, click on it, and then on the "Screen Share" option at the top right corner.
Do note, you need to have the option set up in the Sharing settings on the Mac Mini before doing this.
