bluetooth connection between iphones

hi, earlier i noticed a bluetooth device called “iphone” connected to my iphone. i disconnected it by turning my bluetooth on and off again and after it was not shown as a known device on my bluetooth tab in setting. should i be worried someone has access to my details or bank information or is this likely just a bug?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Well, it is impossible to connect 2 iPhones together via Bluetooth.

Did it actually have the word “connected” next to the iPhone, or was it just listed under Other Devices in Settings/Bluetooth? When Bluetooth is open in Settings it will list all devices that are within range and in Pairing mode, so most likely someone near you also had Bluetooth settings open.

When you go to Settings/Bluetooth do you see the device connected, as I asked? If not it is not connected.

It is impossible for another iPhone to connect to your iPhone under any circumstances. And no other device can connect to your iPhone without you accepting the connection.

I can’t replicate what you describe. Can you list the detailed steps you followed to see this? If I open Control Center I don’t see any BT devices. If I tap on the BT icon it disconnects my BT devices, which is what it’s purpose is.

i was not looking inside of the settings app itself just on the control centre ( when you swipe down in the top right corner) whilst i was trying to connect my airpods. i initially noticed when after i had just connected my airpods and clicked off the bluetooth tab and proceeded to see that underneath the bluetooth icon my phone told me i was connected to 2 devices. i then proceeded to look and it said that i was connected to a device called “iphone”. from intial google searches it appears that if someone with malicious intentions had this connection that they would be able to potentially access data and take it without my knowing. any information regarding what that might be, how to stop it and then what data might have been stolen from me would definitely be helpful. thank you.

i swiped down to access the control centre and then held down on the 4 circles, one of which is bluetooth, to bring up the six options ( wifi, bluetooth, mobile data , airplane mode, personal hotspot and airdrop). at this point underneath the bluetooth icon my phone told me there were two devices detected ( this is where, in the photo attached, it says on). i then held down on the bluetooth icon to see what this device might be when my phone displayed a bluetooth option labelled “iphone”. again i don’t know what this might be and any help identifying how i may now be at threat would be off great help.

there is no longer a bluetooth connection to this device. however there definitely was ( as it showed this mystery device to be connected as you described earlier) and i’m unsure as for how long this existed. i suspect it wasn’t long as i was walking between lessons at school and i was alone so for anyone to maintain a level of proximity suffient enough to maintain a connection it would have been momentary. but as you say i would have needed to have accepted there invitation to be connected and i don’t think i would have done so to an unknown device unless i miss clicked and was unaware i did so. i have looked into the matter and found an article ( linked here :https://www.identityiq.com/digital-security/how-are-hackers-targeting-your-devices-through-bluetooth/#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20most%20dangerous,accounts%20or%20commit%20identity%20theft.) which seemed to express that i am now in severe danger however the side effects they monetioned about me being hacked were not things i experienced. i’m not greatly experienced in this matter and therefore would appreciate some general advice on what u should do next or as just advice to whether my data is safe.
