Restricted Apple Cash

Someone who I thought was a friend stole my phone and sent themselves money with my Apple Cash and the disappeared. I filed the dispute with my bank about how I did not make the charges, it was returned but then when I got my new phone and set up my Apple Cash account the money was taken out from my checking account. I understand Apple wants their money but now my Apple Cash account is permanently restricted. The specialist on the phone did not offer a solution. I reviewed my bank statements again and confirmed the money was taken out for Apple Cash the 2nd time. Now I am confused. I am taking more secure measures but I cannot even receive birthday money from friends

Apple is not a bank. Apple Cash accounts are a service of Green Dot Bank. Banks are private entities and have the right choose not to do business with your. If the account is locked/closed there is nothing to be done. There is not solution other than to move on and use another service and this time don’t give your iPhone to friends or strangers. Sorry if that comes across as harsh, but that is the reality of the situation.

If you choose to pursue this with Green Dot Bank, there contact information is below. Apple Cash is a service that’s administered by Green Dot Bank. Contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank by calling (877)-233-8552.

There are services such as Venmo, Cash App and PayPal, that provide similar services. They all have mobile apps and mobile wallets. I have accounts with all 3 companies and find them pretty similar.

Again, sorry for sounding harsh, as I said before. Not trying to rub it in, just educate fellow Apple users, so they don’t make the same mistake twice.

Support staff is sometimes limited in what they can and can’t say. I don’t have specific knowledge of your experience, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the person didn’t know the backstory. Things maybe a little freer here, and again, just educate. 😀

If your account is just restricted, Green Dot may still be investigating the issue. It might benefit you to reach out and talk directly with their support team. If your account is locked or closed, the investigation is probably over and they’ve made the decision to sever the relationship.

Please let me know if I can answer any more of your concerns and I wish you the best.

I understand the reality of the situation so no need to be harsh with the very first interaction. I take responsibility over handing my phone to said friend at the time, so please don’t rub in ‘next time don’t hand your phone out’, I get it. There is no need to rub it in others face.

Apple support did not offer any type of explanation. I was not told they use an outside service so excuse me for being curious when I did not get anything from the customer support that I was directed to go to for answers. I would have understood if I was told they use a bank service for Apple Cash.
